Looking good.

Personally I moved all the memory buttons to the other side as I found that more natural, but it's great.

I would like it if you could make a version which has a small image that pops up the calculator rather than 'destroying' it but that's a minor thing.

Good job

I love it ! Thanx pjpowell LOL
Would it be possible to have a text-only version, with just the text box, so that it's easy to include it in a theme ?

I see the calculator (thought you'd slip it by me, huh?? (he he)). Nice as usual PJP. Gonna be part of my collection for sure.

N.B. The popup controller isn't 'destroyed' when destroying the calculator.

Minor niggle

Gah! You want your cake and you want to eat it too? I'll see what I can do.

Everytime I try to load this, DesktopX dies.

TheDude20165: Can you get onto the stardock chat at all? Or if you have MSN Messenger message me at

Would like to try and work out what is causing it. It only uses dxscript and standard controls, no strange plugins so I'm puzzled.

Just checking but you are using a registered DesktopX 2 version aren't you? also what OS is this on?

The DestopX issue went away. I am using a registered DesktopX2 version with WinXP Pro. The new issue is it appears that the text entry window is on top of the calculator window. I changed the Z-Order to normal and can now see the yellow calculator window. I'm not sure how to use the text entry feature.

You click in that area and then press the numbers/operators you want to use. That's it.

Same here as TheDude20165 only changing Z-Order doesn't work. I can only see jellow window when I move the object but when I stop moving it, the text entry window pops up in front of it.

erasid: I'll take a look into that. Thanks for the report.

you need to re-install microsoft script libraries. visit - there is a link somewhere in there LOL

DesignCaddy: That was caused by it being a very old object and using unsupported techniques to catch keypresses. It used to use an invisible Text box to trap the keypresses and convert to calc button presses. Somewhere in the updates to DX this feature was removed and the white box shows. The numbers that appear in it when you press keys are the keycodes for the keys you press.

Fortunately now objects can trap keypresses themselves so
it's not needed. The latest widget version should not suffer from ugly white boxes and uses a custom font created by me specially for this object.

It did not appear on the screen after I loaded it. but, I can find the object loaded in the object list. What should I do for seeing it?
Comment #17 Sunday, September 12, 2004 10:01 PM
PJ: the widget seems to open offscreen, way to the left.
Also, this widget should be in the widget section, but it would be nice if you could also make a regular object, for those who would like to ultimately customize it with our own grapics.

Paxx: Apologies for that. I believe I have corrected it now. Uploaded the wrong one. Btw you can import a widget exe into DesktopX and it wil import as an object allowing you to do what you like with it. I was not aware of this until recently when Frogboy mentioned it.
Comment #19 Monday, September 13, 2004 3:55 PM
Just to make it clear. I have changed this one back to a normal object and uploaded the widget version separately.
Comment #20 Monday, September 13, 2004 8:53 PM
Ah, did know I could import in as an object. Good to know, thanks.
