Yeah, this is great. This is what I've expected from dreams. The thing is though, I would possibly be creating all sorts of dreams like this if an SDK was released. I know it takes a lot to put together an SDK though (I'm a software programmer), but I have a feeling that even after an SDK is written, the fact that Stardock is charging for these types of dreams means that they aren't going to be too partial to having other programmers/dream creators be able to post anything similar to anything they do. There was already an issue with a video dream that looked "too similar" to the dynamic earth dream, as if showing a video of the earth from space is an extremely unique concept that should be protected, the same way that showing pictures and videos from the user's folder(s) is not unique either. They both are pretty standard ideas, but they are good ideas that look good. I'm just afraid that the "monopoly" on whether something is infringing on a "premium" dream that is being charged for is going to affect our ability to create and post our own that are free.

Sounds like Microsoft Photo Slide Show. ScreenSaver does this. Right?

All I have to say is.... oh my god! This is amazing! This dream easily became my instant favorite. Worth every penny... I'd probably pay twice the cost but that's neither here nor there

Appears that it will not recursively scan folders. I'm very disappointed with this feature missing as the dream is basically useless without it. I've got thousands of photos, why would I want to keep them all in a single directory?

Great concept though...

Well here is a thought - just copy your thousands of photos into a single directory and bury it somewhere where it wont bother you and have the .dream work off that folder.

If you don't mind the extra hard drive space this solution will solve most of these problems, except for one very predominant one that keeps nagging away at my brain as I type this - you're going to have to place any new pictures you place on your computer in the aforementioned directory if you want the dream to pick those up too...

Oh well at least I tried

shouldn't there be a sample video of this dream, especially since it's not a free dream. thanks! Looks great and i hope to see a sample so I can decide if I want to buy it.

I already got a Gadget doing just that
It takes pictures I have on my computer and randomly places them on your desktop with cool eye catching effects. I can decide how long they show on the desktop and if I see a picture I really like, I keep it as the wallpaper until I let it do its thing randomly again with hot transition. The pictures can be in any folder inside other folders, it will be showed.

I know the feeling

This one might be hot as well

So, I definitely agree with two things here-

One, a preview for premium dreams is needed. You wouldn't expect a person to buy a car without test driving it first, right?

Two, I think it's gonna be amazing. I might actually shell out some money for this... first online purchase ever ftw?

I say go for it Tamarlin, I will honestly say I have fully enjoyed this .dream since the moment I bought it. I have about 250 HD wallpapers of scenery, animals, and landscape (very much like the sample wallpapers vista brings) and having this .dream cycle through them all is really quite fantastic. Perhaps I'll take a screenshot if anyone wants one.

I thought these premium dreams were supossed to be available to Object Desktop Subscribers via Stardock Central. The first couple were and then nothing else? Can you clarify please?

Some premium dreams will be made available to Object Desktop users but not all of them (or even most of them).

Nicely done, worth the $

I do agree with tdieckman that the SDK , API or even a beta SDK/API is becoming too long in the making, but its nice to see that someone is getting to have fun with it

Good job Stardock.

I would think that adding all the premium dreams to OD would be a nice incentive for new subscriptions and renewals.

it would be sweet if you charged a little more I think. Maybe somewhere around $20
