MyVista

Updated Oct 10, 2006 by NiightDragonGJ

This is my current desktop. It uses Litestep for the actual desk and WB5 for the theme.

The Vista/Litestep is based on the Vista retro project located on AeroXperience. The WB skin is Aero Vista by eXign.

as seen, I have worked a browser into the start panel as well as a working command and search bar :). The start panel also goes back to the normal start panel when you click the back button.

The UserIcon dynamically changes depending on the menu item chosen.
There's also a mini WMP11 that read more

Very nice, though aren't you afraid that by the time vista comes out you'll be sick of this look

I got couple of questions actually...

I'm not awefully familiar with Litestep, I'm guessing you used it to modify the (file) browser so it displays the view options and tasks differently, what about the start menu, is that also mostly Litestep based (search bar, changing icon) or is that a DesktopX theme/object?

Also, I keep seeing that minimized WMP11 and for the life of me I can't figure it out, is that some mini-mode of WMP11 that I've missed or is that another litestep or desktopx thing (I know you can do this with desktopx if the whole startbar is based on it but this isn't it, is it)?

the minimized thing is simple. download WMP11, install and all that. then right click your task bar. click toolbars > Windows Media Player. tah duh! (you have to minimize it then it will work). and to get that small player that isn't minimized, grab a side of the WMP window, and drag it to make it smaller, just keep making it smaller until it turns into the small player.

nice shot man, how'd you get the start menu? want to share it?

Thanks Guys. Sorry for the delay in responding.. r/l stuff

But yes, I was sick of Vista when I started as a beta tester from the first Longhorn . I was however, interested in more of the technical side if anything else. And I'll say, having a browser control embedded into that start menu is a big time saver.
I will be releasing the theme soon. I'm currently working on adding a search feature in the start panel for files. Right now it's just geared towards searching various Web engines and so on.
The wmp11 clone I added here is an attempt to add support for more players aside from wmp11, winamp, itunes, foobar.. etc.. And I never liked the way Wmp11's toolbar player never really matched the toolbar.

I'm also working on a skinning engine for the theme. So it doesn't always have to look like Vista Maybe bring Longhorn orignial back

I'll keep folks up to date on the theme's release, though.

Very nice. It could almost pass for being Vista RC1.

What's LiteStep?

Btw all Windows Media Players can be minimised to the taskbar, just right click it > toolbars > windows media player. I am using WMP10 atm in toolbar form WMP11 Beta 2 is still kinda shyte at streaming internet TV/Radio.

If you could e-mail me: Geon106@Hotmail.co.uk when the themes ready i'll be very grateful. Thanks

Thanks Geon106. More info on Litestep can be found here http://www.ls-universe.info/news.php and http://www.litestep.net/index.php?section=1 The second site is where I'll release the full theme once it's complete. There's an older version of the theme there now, but, it's very old to what I have now.
