My Windows 11 Desktop

Updated Aug 19, 2023 by Envisaged0ne

Here is my Windows 11 desktop, themed to look like Windows Vista. Using multiple programs like Windowblinds 11, RetroBar, WindHawk, IconPackager and Start11

Hi!

I was just curious, if you don't mind answering, in what ways are you using RetroBar and WindHawk?

My favorite look for Windows (I'm sure many will call me crazy) was Vista.  I've been able to get close to Vista's looks, but not quite as close as I'd prefer.

Also, I've used WindowBlinds for years, but I've always avoided most all 3rd party UI customization tools because I thought I'd read at some point about incompatibilities that won't work at the least, and can cause havoc at the worst.
I'm assuming your runs just fine, so any information on how you've configured RetroBar and WindHawk, as well as any other cautions one should take before attempting this look would be much appreciated!

I agree, I think Vista looked the best.  So, with Retrobar,  you just simply download it, run it and choose the Windows Vista Aero Theme.  Nothing more you need to configure, but it does have some options you can look through.

With WindHawk, after you've launched it, you go to Explore and install a few mods.  The ones I used were:

Disable Immersive Context Menus

Shrink Address Bar Height

Legacy File Copy

Non Immersive Taskbar Context Menu

Windows 7 Command Bar

The theme I'm using for Windowblinds 11 is BetterAeroVistaX and you can get it here:
